Diversekey

Diversekey is a Karaoke bar that creates a safe space for people to connect regardless of someone's appearance, sexuality or gender.

In the Netherlands, there is a problem with student housing. In these times people have a hard time finding a room they can afford and when they finally do a lot of students get hit with the reality of co-option. Co-option is when the people who live in the house choose who will be living in the new room. This by itself is not the problem, but the discrimination is. A lot of students want a house mate that fit their criteria and in a lot of cases it turns discriminative to international students, students with a different sexuality or gender identity or students with disabilities. And there hasn't been done much to help these students in need of a room.

Therefore, I created Diverse key.

Diverse key is a place for people to have a fun time with some foods and drinks and get to know new people. This karaoke bar is different from a normal karaoke bar though, because the music is not just one or 2 languages, but there is a broader list of the different language you can sing in. Not only is the music more diverse, the food and drinks are also inspired by different countries.

By connecting with people through a new experience like learning a new language singing a song or having a good time over a snack and a drink is a great way to know more about the surrounding area and what's going on in student lives. The bar will have multiple features, one being the app that I created the visuals of for this project.
